Dougherty County’s new weather siren project nearing completion

DOUGHERTY Co., Ga. – As the new weather sirens come online, residents may occasionally hear sirens as technicians test and communicate to the Dougherty County 911 Center this coming week.

The testing will be brief, and there is no cause for alarm. We apologize for any inconvenience in advance. Once the system is commissioned, the new sirens will warn the Dougherty County citizens when a severe weather warning has been issued.

The project includes 20 new sirens placed throughout the county in strategic locations. Dougherty County purchased the new warning sirens through an available FEMA grant.

Residents can contact Dougherty County Public Works at (229) 430-6120 for more information.
