Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office bringing back community barbecue event

ALBANY, Ga. – The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office is gearing up to bring back one of their more popular events.

The sheriff’s office will be hosting their annual community barbecue this Saturday, September 30th at Riverfront Park.

This is the first time the sheriff’s office has hosted the event since 2019 as Sheriff Kevin Sproul mentioned that due to concerns of spreading COVID-19, he didn’t want to risk getting people sick.

We caught up with the Dougherty County Sheriff Monday afternoon to talk about bringing the event back after a four-year hiatus and what it means to him as it will be the last one he hosts as sheriff.

“We’re excited about it, it’s gonna get to reunite us with some people that we see at these cook outs. Most of the cookouts we’ll have some of the same people show up, supporters of our office and our agency, and it’s just a time to really be excited about what’s going on in our community,” said Dougherty County Sheriff, Kevin Sproul.

The barbecue will take place at Riverfront Park downtown from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday.
