Dougherty County and City of Albany implement Mandatory Curfew ahead of Hurricane Helene
ALBANY, Ga. – Dougherty County and the City of Albany are taking proactive measures to ensure the safety of residents. In coordination with local emergency management agencies, a mandatory curfew will be in place starting at 7PM tonight and will remain effective until 7AM Friday morning.
The curfew restricts all non-essential travel within the County and City limits. Residents are advised to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and make necessary preparations to ensure their safety and that of their families. This action is being taken to prevent accidents and injuries that can occur due to hazardous conditions associated with the hurricane, including high winds, flooding, and potential power outages.
“We understand the inconvenience this may cause, but the safety of our community is our top priority,” said Dougherty County Chairman Lorenzo Heard. “This curfew is necessary to protect lives and property as we brace for Hurricane Helene’s impact. We urge all residents to adhere to this directive and stay off the roads to allow emergency personnel to do their work safely and effectively.”
The Dougherty County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) will continue to monitor the storm’s progress and provide updates as necessary. All residents are encouraged to stay informed by following official County and City social media channels, as well as local news outlets for the latest information.
