Dougherty County addresses sewer spill incident at Radium Springs Casino Site

ALBANY, Ga. – Dougherty County is aware of an incident that occurred at the Radium Springs Casino Site, which is under the maintenance of Dougherty County.

On Tuesday, staff members detected an unpleasant odor in the vicinity and promptly launched an investigation to identify the source.

Upon thorough examination, it was determined that a lift station line had experienced a backup, leading to a sewer spill onto the grounds of the Radium Springs Casino Site. Dougherty County immediately reported the issue to the City of Albany, and our county personnel are actively engaged in monitoring and supporting the ongoing cleanup efforts.

We want to assure the public that, as of now, there is no indication that the Spring itself was negatively impacted by the spill. Nevertheless, we understand the concerns that may arise from this incident, and we wish to reassure the community that we are taking all necessary measures to address the situation swiftly and effectively.

“We are committed to the health and safety of our residents and visitors. Our team is working diligently alongside the City of Albany to ensure proper cleanup and mitigation of any environmental impact,” said Chuck Mathis, Director of Dougherty County Public Works.

Dougherty County officials will continue to provide updates on any developments related to this incident.
