Dougherty Co. Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists of school bus safety

ALBANY, Ga. – Dougherty Co. Sheriff’s Office reminds motorists of school bus safety:

With school starting back, school bus safety and the safety of our students is important. We wanted to remind everyone about the law pertaining to passing a stopped school bus loading or unloading students.

Two Lane Road – ALL vehicles traveling in BOTH directions MUST STOP when the school bus visual signals are in operation.

Multi-Lane (Not Divided) Road – ALL vehicles traveling in BOTH directions MUST STOP when the school bus visual signals are in operation.

Divided Highway (grass, concrete, median wall, any other barrier) – Vehicles traveling behind the school bus MUST STOP. Vehicles traveling in the opposite direction of the school bus may continue to travel, but must use caution.

Let’s have a safe and wonderful school year, both in the classroom and on the roads!
