‘Disheartening’; Cordele Police Chief reacts to early morning fatal officer tragedy
Chief Heard said as sad as this deputy's death was, it will only make the force stronger.
CORDELE, Ga. – I got a chance to speak with Cordele Police Chief Jalon Heard about the killing of a Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy that occurred earlier this morning, he described the event to me in one word ‘disheartening’.
“I’m saddened to hear of the passing of the Crisp County Sheriff’s Deputy with the incident that occurred this morning, he gave the ultimate sacrifice, his life in service of this community,” said Cordele Police Chief Jalon Heard.
Law enforcement take a risk every day they put on the badge.
“Anytime we take the oath of service we know that there’s going to be some inherent risk, you know going out a serving the community its something not everyone can do,” said Cordele Police Chief Jalon Heard.
Chief Heard tells me as sad as this deputy’s death was, it will only make the force stronger.
“What it does is bring us all together and it’ll bond us more and I can say that local, state, and federal resources and everyone that comes together when these incidents occur. It’s quite amazing,” said Cordele Police Chief Jalon Heard.
