MOULTRIE, Ga. – Independence Day may be tomorrow but the Daughters of the American Revolution group in Moultrie are honoring Korean War veterans today.
“A lot of attention was given to World War Two and a lot was given to the Vietnam War, but not so much to the Korean War, and those men stood in the gap to protect democracy,” said Nancy Coleman, Regent of Daughters of American Revolution.
Korean war veterans were faced with major adversity.
“Well…it means we fought some hard battles and we survived them I guess,” said Ronald A. Horn, Korean War veteran.

“Moultrie has always been a big supporter of our veterans, we have a marker and a war memorial,” she said.
Tomorrow will be America’s 247th birthday but Regent Leader Coleman is looking forward the 250th.
“The 250th birthday is just 3 years away and I hope all of us participate in making that, and we can make our country proud,” she said.
This event also marked the 70th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice.
