Crisp Regional Surgery Center groundbreaking ceremony
CORDELE, Ga. – Crisp Regional Hospital marks a significant milestone as it commences the groundbreaking for its new renovation and expansion.
Hoar Construction has been appointed as the general contractor for the $18.3 million dollar expansion and renovation project at Crisp Regional Hospital. Set to be completed by August 2025, the endeavor encompasses the addition of two stories for new operating room space and refurbishments to the current facility.
“There are two pieces to this project. The first part is an ambulatory surgery center near I-75, and it’s just about completely open actually, this next week. The second part, which we had the groundbreaking for today, is an expansion of the operating rooms and the surgical suite area. The new operating rooms are going to be somewhat larger than our existing operating rooms. And, that’s to accommodate the robotic surgical techniques of some of the newer equipment that has to be in operating rooms that neurosurgeons will be using. So, this is going to create another entrance to the hospital here on the back side and it will be specifically to serve outpatient surgery patients. So, this will be all the modern conveniences and the ease of getting in and out for surgical patients; and to recognize that as our population ages that more of delivery of health care is done on an outpatient basis. This facility is intended just to streamline that,” said Steven Gutney, Crisp Regional Health Services President and CEO.
Despite the ongoing construction, the hospital will remain fully operational, requiring extensive communication and coordination between the Crisp Regional and the Hoar team.
Steven Gautney, President & Chief Executive (CEO) of Crisp Regional Hospital, highlights the community impact of this expansion and the added value it brings to Crisp county.
“One of the big things that goes on here is that our goal is to serve people close to their homes so that you don’t have to drive to Atlanta or you don’t have to drive far away. Receive care, hopefully from people that you know and, you know, have the same kind of values that you do. This facility will allow you to receive care close to home with great quality, state of the art facilities, that’s the biggest thing it brings. I think the other part is it brings economic development to the area. This hospital is a huge economic engine for the community. This will continue that growth to sustain that into the future,” said Gautney.
