Crisp County High School Band Program member to represent in Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) All-State Honor Band

CORDELE, GA — The Crisp County High School Band Program is incredibly proud to celebrate the extraordinary achievement of Ja’Kiyah, a 10th grade Contrabass Clarinet student who has earned a coveted spot in the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) All-State Honor Band—one of the highest honors a high school musician can receive.

According to Band Director Dominique Lane, it’s been nearly a decade since a student from CCHS has earned this all-state recognition.

“Out of the entire state of Georgia, only two students were selected on the contrabass clarinet, and Ja’Kiyah is one of them! To earn this honor, she demonstrated elite musicianship by mastering required scales, performing both lyrical and technical etudes, and successfully sight-reading music she had never seen before—all under pressure during the audition process,” Lane said. “We are beyond proud of Ja’Kiyah.”

This accomplishment is truly historic for our program. Ja’Kiyah is:
• The first student in nearly a decade from Crisp County High School to earn All-State recognition
• The FIRST contrabass clarinetist in the HISTORY of our band program to achieve this honor

We are beyond proud of Ja’Kiyah and excited for her to represent Crisp County High School and our school district at the GMEA All-State Honor Band event, March 5–7, at the Classic Center in Athens, GA.

Please join us in congratulating Ja’Kiyah Jones when you see her. This is not only an incredible personal achievement but also a historic milestone for the Crisp County High School Band Program.

Way to go, Ja’Kiyah!
