Crisp Co. Transportation’s Zonar MyView Ridership program for school buses
CORDELE, Ga. – A new ride-sharing service is set to transform daily commutes for students.
Zonar MyView Ridership, a bus rider verification program, aims to provide a greater peace of mind as the school year progresses, offering parents, guardians, and students in Crisp county added reassurance.
“Implementation will start August 26, and we are trying to make sure that parents are aware of where their children are, making sure that the busses are safe and making sure they can have that direct time and time link of from the time they get on the bus and the time they get off the bus for safety reasons. It’s a program that was started to help the bus drivers. Also, we’re doing pre and post trip inspections on the buses. And, one of the components with the pre-trip and post trip inspection is the MyView Ridership for the parents to be able to see when their children are on the buses. What helps the bus drivers most with their pre and post trip inspection is paperwork. So, we don’t have to deal with a lot of paperwork. Everything is real time accountability. The bus drivers can see exactly what tasks they perform when they do pre and post trip inspections from Zonar. And as far as the implementation of MyView Ridership, it helps the parents. The most important thing is the parents being able to know where their children are at all times and knowing exactly where the buses are,” said Dedra Davis, Assistant Director, Crisp County Transportation Department.
Each student is issued a small card, which they scan when boarding and exiting the bus. The onboard scanner records the student’s ID number, along with the date and time of each scan.
This information is instantly and securely accessible to authorized parents through the MyView mobile app.
“We saw that a lot of parents were concerned about the buses getting in late. You know where their children were, what bus were they on. Especially for primary and Pre-K babies. Parents want to make sure that their children are on their correct bus. And, we had a lot of times the children got crossed up and were on the wrong bus. So, we want to make sure that now parents will be able, by applying an app on their phone, to know exactly where the buses are at any given time, real live time,” said Davis.
This week, the Crisp County School System will be sending out a letter to parents with instructions on how to download the MyView app and the unique key number needed for each child. The letter will provide the children’s identifying numbers, enabling parents to download the app on their phones and access Zonar MyView Ridership from their mobile devices.
