Crisp Co. Sheriff’s Office announces Rise4Me partnership
CORDELE, Ga. – The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office is announcing a new partnership. One which is aimed at helping released inmates make the transition back into society.
It’s called Rise4Me.
And, as Crisp County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer, Haley Wade tells us, it helps released inmates get resources to address both physical and mental health.
“…Anywhere from basic needs like housing, food, clothing, healthcare. And, you can see how that really benefits a lot of individuals outside of those being incarcerated. But, it was created as a re-entry program and a resource guide.” said Haley Wade, Public Information Officer (PIO), Crisp Co. Sheriff’s Office.
Rise4Me is already available across several states, including Georgia in major counties.
But, to have it in a rural area like Crisp county is a massive deal…
Especially with the Crisp County Detention Center being a facility for those pre-sentenced.
“They could go a long time without receiving a paycheck, or not having a support system here. Again, if you’re arrested in Crisp county or transported here, that doesn’t necessarily mean you’re from Crisp county. So, you’re in an area where you may not have a support system established and that can be incredibly difficult,” said Wade.
As well as providing re-integration services, the Rise4Me service will also help released inmates get help for issues like alcohol and substance abuse.
“We really encourage families of individuals who have been detained or those getting out and maybe need a helping hand, or they need to understand where these resources might be available and give it a look,” said Wade.
As the rollout of Rise4Me begins in Crisp county they want all released inmates to know that the sheriff’s office wants to help them build a much-needed support system.
“You need to ensure that all of your basic needs are met. And then your mental health needs are as well. Their goal is for individuals not to come back. Our goal is when you leave our facility for you not to come back. But, when you don’t have a support system in place or you don’t have access to resources it may be difficult,” said Wade.
With more than 80 resources available in and around Crisp county, its a major victory for those being released from the detention center.
