Crisp Co. Detention Center receives upgrades
CORDELE, Ga. – The Crisp County Detention Center is going through some much-needed improvements for the first time since 1991.
Thanks to County Maintenance Supervisor Toby Coleman, his staff, and the help of some inmates, the improvements are well underway, and the progress is already evident.
Commissioners Felton and Dowdy recently toured the facility, and Sheriff Billy Hancock stressed the significance of the commissioners visiting the center to witness the improvements firsthand.
He also pointed out that while public safety is the largest expense in the county’s budget, maintaining high standards and quality care for inmates is a non-negotiable priority.
The project has garnered mixed comments on social media, though county officials maintain that the work is needed and long overdue.
