Crews to partially close Jefferson Street and 7th Avenue as CSS project moves forward

ALBANY, Ga. – On Monday, March 18, 2024, Jefferson Street southbound at 8th Avenue will be closed to traffic as crews continue to work on the Combined Sewer Separation (CSS) project.

A detour route will be established, directing southbound traffic to turn left onto 8th Avenue and right onto Jackson Street. Northbound traffic from Washington Street will turn right at Jackson Street and left onto 8th Avenue back to Jefferson Street.

The westbound lanes of 7th Avenue will be closed, but the eastbound lanes will remain open at the intersection.

All intersections on Jefferson Street between W. Society Avenue and 6th Avenue will remain open for cross traffic.

Work on 7th Avenue and Jefferson Street is expected to last about a week or until the job is complete.
