Crash landing incident at Southwest Georgia Regional Airport
ALBANY, Ga. – On Monday, August 18, 2025, a Thrush aircraft was doing a test run. While coming into the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport to land, the landing gear sheared off, and the craft crashed into the runway.
Only the pilot was on board during the test, and they are uninjured.
All first responders arrived on the scene after the incident, including the Airport Police Department, its staff, the Albany Fire Department, the Albany Police Department, and EMS.
The Airport is closed to air traffic and will remain that way until the aircraft can be removed from the runway. The plane cannot be moved until the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) approves the aircraft’s removal.
