COVID-19 cases on the rise in Tifton

TIFTON, Ga. – An increase in COVID-19 cases in Tifton has medical professionals urging residents to mask up…. once again!

“In the last few weeks we have seen an increase in our clinics, we’re seeing depending on the clinic 15 to 20 people a day that are testing positive for Covid,” said Charlotte Griffin, Lead Infection Preventionist, TRMC.

Lead Infection Preventionist Charlotte Griffin tells me the start of school could be why COVID-19 numbers spiked.

“A lot people went out traveling for the one last vacation before school started then you put all those kids together in a room and their spreading things between themselves,” said Griffin.

Leading Tifton residents to revert to…

“Wear a mask around other people, maybe don’t go to the gym cause your going to have trouble trying to work out with a mask on,” said Griffin.

But, what if some Tifton residents don’t want to take these precautions anymore?

“Maybe it’s a mild infection for you but their are people out there with weakened immune systems that this still is a serious infection for them, older people can get this and end up in the hospital,” said Griffin.
