Cordele City Commission approves city manager’s police chief appointment, to host community meet & greet
CORDELE, Ga. – At this morning’s Cordele City Commission meeting, the commissioners approved City Manager Angela Redding’s appointment of Danny Hicks as Chief of the City of Cordele Police Department.
After the swearing-in ceremony, Chief Hicks stated “To the community we serve, you are the heart of everything we do. I pledge to be visible, approachable and accountable to you. I will listen to your concerns, seek your input, and work alongside you as a partner, not just as a protector. We will build stronger relationships, trust and create a safer city where every resident feels seen, heard and respected. This department does not belong to me, it belongs to all of us, and we will move forward together. Today is not just about a position, it’s about a promise…a promise to uphold the values that brought me into this profession, a promise to strengthen the foundation of this department, and a promise to work every day to make sure we leave it stronger than we found it.”
Chief Hicks continued by thanking his family, colleagues, and every person who has believed in him along the way.
Chief Hicks said he is “honored to serve, proud to lead, and ready for the path forward.”
There will be Meet & Greet Reception this evening at the Cordele Community Clubhouse at 5:30 P.M. The City of Cordele hopes everyone will come and share words of encouragement and support with Chief Hicks. We look forward to seeing you this evening!
