ALBANY, Ga. – Next, we head to Albany, where a longtime public servant has announced his bid for re-election.

Longtime Congressman Sanford Bishop officially kicked off his re-election campaign Wednesday afternoon, announcing he’ll seek another term as Georgia’s Second Congressional District Representative.

Bishop, who has represented south and middle Georgia since 1993, is looking to continue in a role that he has held for over 30 years.

CBS 44 was at the announcement at the Albany Government Center as the incumbent shared his thoughts on running for re-election.

“I believe that I have given good account of my stewardship and I believe that I have experience, and preparation, that I’m well positioned to continue delivering for the people of our district, of our state and of our nation,” said Congressman Sanford Bishop, 2nd Congressional District, (D) Georgia.

Bishop is running against Republican Arthur Wayne Johnson.
