Commissioner Demetrius Young endorses Ward 4 candidate Marion Gaines Jones
ALBANY, Ga. – Ward 6 Commissioner Demetrius Young endorsed Ward 4 candidate, Marion Gaines Jones, stating “I have known Marion Gaines Jones most of my life. After considering the three candidates vying for the City Commission Ward 4 seat, there is no question that Ms. Gaines Jones would be an excellent voice representing the interest of the residents of Ward 4 on the Commission. She has a long history of working for the good people of Albany. I have seen her work on behalf of the Winterwood Subdivision where she lives. She is selfless and not self-serving. We need that on the commission in order to move not only Ward 4 forward, but to move the entire city forward. It must be about our citizens and not the commissioner building a resume or a career.”
Commissioner Young added, “Her commitment to studying the issues facing the city now and in the future is evident. I believe she will not only study the issues but will consult with the residents of Ward 4 on a regular basis to ensure that she represents their interest. I encourage all residents of Ward 4 who want to see a positive direction in the city to vote for Ms. Gaines Jones.”
Ms. Gaines Jones expressed her appreciation for the endorsement stating that “It means a lot coming from a longstanding public servant as Commissioner Young. He has been on the frontline fighting for the interest of all of Albany for a long time. I look forward to joining him in that fight.” She states that some of her priorities include preserving the integrity of existing neighborhoods in Ward 4, reducing crime city-wide, bringing appropriate economic development to Albany to help reduce property taxes and poverty and addressing the high cost of utilities.
