Colquitt Co. School District’s Loads of Literacy campaign encourages reading and book donations at laundry mats
MOULTRIE, Ga. – If you’re doing laundry in Colquitt county, don’t forget to bring your detergent and your curiosity! A new initiative is turning spin cycles into story time.
The Loads of Literacy campaign is bringing free books to laundromats across the county, aiming to make reading more accessible for everyone – young readers, teens, and adults alike.
The campaign was launched this spring through the University of Georgia Colquitt County Archway Partnership Youth Development Work Group.
The Colquitt County School District stepped up to help, donating books and baskets to participating laundry locations. Some selections are even bilingual. Patrons are encouraged to ‘Wash, Read, Repeat’ – read while you wait, take a book home, or swap one out!
You can support this project by donating through their Amazon wish list – or, if you’d like to adopt a location or get more involved, contact daisy beaver at the Colquitt County School District.
