Clay County School-Based Health Center Celebrates Grand Opening
FORT GAINES, Ga. – Albany Area Primary Health Care (AAPHC) will host a Grand Opening Celebration for their new Clay County School-Based Health Center in Fort Gaines, Georgia on Thursday, February 1. The event will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 200 Hobbs Lane, Fort Gaines and all are welcome to attend the Grand Opening festivities.
During the Grand Opening, AAPHC will have a short presentation, tours of the facility, light refreshments and giveaways. For our media partners, we will have space available for interviews with our health care providers, executive team, elected officials, school officials and more.
AAPHC’s Clay County School-Based Health Center is like having a small “doctor’s office” built in the school. AAPHC medical providers care for faculty and students right at the school quickly and efficiently. “Studies have shown that if a child feels their best, then they do their best in school,” says Brandy Church, spokesperson for AAPHC. “Our providers are literally right down the hall to ensure students are cared for and have what they need for a successful school day.”
“We have also had positive feedback from parents,” says Church. “If they get a phone call that their child isn’t feeling well, they know that their child will be cared for by medical providers right away. This is extremely helpful and takes stress off parents from having to leave work and then find an appointment at a local doctor’s office. Now, the appointment happens right away as soon as the child says they aren’t feeling well. It’s truly a stress reliever for parents and the student.”
AAPHC opened their doors in 1979 with primary care offices in Albany and Leesburg, but over the years the organization has expanded to locations in more than 11 counties across Southwest Georgia. AAPHC includes primary care and pediatrics, but also specialty services like Dentistry, Podiatry, Vision Centers, Behavioral Health, Pharmacy, Women’s Health and School-Based Health Centers.
AAPHC is one of the largest Community Health Centers in the state of Georgia and ensure that all residents receive access to high quality medical care, regardless of a person’s insurance or ability to pay. “Ensuring everyone – whether you are insured or uninsured – has access to the highest quality medical care is one of the main priorities for our organization,” says Church. “We’re one of the largest medical groups in the region– with over 90 providers and multiple locations – and we’re committed to caring for our communities.”
“Our Clay County School-Based Health Center marks our tenth office in local schools across Southwest Georgia,” says Church. “We’re also happy to announce that we will be expanding again to care for faculty and students in the Randolph County School System. We look for that School-Based Health Center to open sometime in 2024.”
Interview opportunities will be available after the short presentation and ribbon cutting, including:
