City of Albany to Activate Operation Safe Place Warming Center

Albany, GA – On Monday, December 29, through Friday, January 2, the City of Albany will activate Operation Safe Place to provide people with a warm place to stay overnight.

According to the current forecast, freezing temperatures are expected overnight, Monday through Friday.

The Albany Transit Center at 300 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Monday through Friday. The transit Center will resume regular operations at 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

We will continue to monitor the weather to see if the warming center will need to be extended or if any additional days will need to be included.
