City of Albany to activate Operation Safe Place to provide warming center ahead of freezing temperatures

ALBANY, Ga. – On Friday, December 19, and Saturday, December 20, the City of Albany will activate Operation Safe Place to provide people with a warm place to stay overnight.

According to the current forecast, freezing temperatures are expected overnight tonight, on the 19th, and 20th.

The Albany Transit Center at 300 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. The transit Center will resume regular operations at 7 a.m. on Friday, and Saturday, December 20th.

We will continue to monitor the weather to see if the warming center will need to be extended or any additional days will need to be included.
