City of Albany to activate Operation Safe Place to provide warming center ahead of freezing temperatures

ALBANY, Ga. – On Thursday, December 11, Sunday, December 14, Monday, December 15, and Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the City of Albany will activate Operation Safe Place to provide people with a warm place to stay overnight.

According to the current forecast, freezing temperatures are expected overnight tonight, on the 14th, 15th, and 16th.

The Albany Transit Center at 300 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Thursday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The transit Center will resume regular operations at 7 a.m. on Friday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, December 17.

We will continue to monitor the weather to see if the warming center will need to be extended or any additional days will need to be included.
