City of Albany and Dougherty County extend Operation Safe Place to offer Cooling Stations

ALBANY, Ga. – Beginning Monday, July 29, 2025, the City of Albany, with the assistance of Dougherty County, will extend Operation Safe Place to continue offering people a place to cool off during the day.

According to current weather reports, the heat index is projected to exceed 100 degrees through Saturday.

Below is a list of locations available to anyone needing a break from the heat and the times they will be open.

• The Albany Transportation Center
o Address: 300 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard
o Hours of Operation:
Monday – Friday: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Saturday: 7 a.m. – 9 p.m. (unless otherwise notified)
Sunday: Closed (unless otherwise notified)

The Dougherty County Public Library Central Branch in Downtown
o Address: 300 Pine Avenue
o Hours of Operation
Monday – Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
Thursday & Friday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Sunday: 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.

The Northwest Library Branch
