City of Albany activates Operation Safe Place warming shelters ahead of freezing temperatures

ALBANY, Ga. – The City of Albany is launching Operation Safe Place on Wednesday to offer shelter and warmth to individuals during an anticipated cold snap.

Weather forecasts indicate that freezing temperatures are on the horizon for Wednesday night into Thursday morning.

To provide shelter, the Albany Transit Center, located at 300 West Oglethorpe Boulevard, will be available as a warming center from 6:30 p.m. Wednesday until the start of business at 7 a.m. Thursday.

The facility will also offer access to water for those seeking refuge from the cold.
