Chehaw Park & Zoo’s Conservation Chats make learning about wildlife an adventure
ALBANY, Ga. – Chehaw Park & Zoo is transforming an everyday trip to the zoo into a unique and enriching experience.
Chehaw offers a range of conservation talks throughout its exhibits, featuring guided tours led by the park’s experts.
During these chats, visitors will have the opportunity to learn intriguing facts about the animals, gain insights into the park’s history, and explore its ongoing conservation efforts.
“When you come to a Conservation Chat here at Chehaw, you’ll be able to engage with an educator, will be able to have a wonderful conversation about conservation, what conservation means, how we can get involved. Today, we’ll be focusing on the red wolves as part of our species survival plan. Conservation is a huge part of everyday life. It’s a huge part of making sure we can sustain our planet moving forward. And, these Conservation Chats are a great way to engage the public. So, when you come visit the zoo, you can look around and see all of your favorite animals as well as learn something and be able to take something home with you,” said Madeline Pond, Artesian Alliance, Educator.
The Conservation Chats offer visitors the chance to explore a variety of exhibits while fostering a deeper connection between the community and wildlife conservation.
Madeline Pond, Artesian Alliance educator, highlights the importance of being mindful of conservation efforts and the role they play in protecting our natural world.
“Conservation is everybody’s job. We are all a part of conservation. We are all on this planet together along with us, all of our animal friends, all of our plant friends. And, it’s our job to lift each other up and make sure that we have a better future for tomorrow and a better planet for tomorrow. So, conservation can be anything as small as making sure that we recycle and making sure that our litter goes in a trash can and not on the floor. As well as writing to our legislators, helping get legislation involved. Bigger changes as that. So, it takes every single one of us. It takes every single day,” said Pond.
Madeline Pond explains how you can take advantage of this opportunity and participate in the upcoming Conservation Chats.
“So, our conservation efforts are included in your admission so you can find a schedule for all of our fall daily programming on our Instagram as well as our Facebook. So, all of our social media, we are offering daily programs as part of our regular admission. You can come to our Conservation Chats and learn how we can help our animal friends. We have animal counters throughout the day as well as exhibit chats where you can learn more about a specific animal that we have here in our zoo. So, definitely check out our social media. We are actually called Chehaw Park and Zoo on Instagram and you’ll be able to find all of our scheduling for our programming,” said Pond.
