CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: November 5, 2024

The weather will be much different in 24 hours compared to our Election Day. Clouds thicken overnight with rain showers possible. Rain becomes likely along with the potential for locally heavy rainfall by Wednesday evening lasting into Thursday. 2″-4″ of rainfall is expected in most areas, but over 5″ is possible. Flooding is possible from excessive runoff if the rainfall falls in a short period of time despite ongoing abnormally dry conditions. Rises on area rivers are possible, but riverine flooding is not expected since most rivers and streams are well under action stage. Showers linger Friday. Drier heading into the weekend and Veterans Day.

Tropical Storm Rafael is strengthening as it approaches Cuba. Tropical Storm conditions expected in Florida Keys later tonight. Rafael is expected to enter the Gulf of Mexico as a Hurricane, then weaken as it approaches northern Gulf coast as it encounters wind shear, cooler waters, and drier air.
