CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: June 13, 2024

Hotter Friday to hottest of the year so far this weekend. Near the century mark with heat index approaching dangerous criteria 105-108. Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke!  Stay hydrated! Check the back seat! Check on the pets, kids, and the elderly. Slight chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm on Father’s Day. Some relief with near seasonal temperatures next week.

In the tropics, still watching disturbance that dumped 2 feet or more of rainfall over southern Florida as it emerges over Western Atlantic, and some gradual development is possible as the system moves away from SE U.S. Coast.

A broad low pressure system is expected to form over SW Gulf of Mexico or Bay of Campeche this weekend or early next week. A tropical depression could form by early to middle portion of next week while it moves slowly W or WNW.

There are some signs in long range ensemble model guidance that a third system could develop over the Gulf of Mexico during the last week of the month. These systems originate from what’s known as the Central American Gyre (CAG).
