CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: January 7, 2025

Hard Freezes thru Thursday. Chilly rain likely Friday into Saturday. There is a narrow window of opportunity early to mid Friday morning for light freezing rain/drizzle (liquid that falls and freezes on contact) for far northern communities generally along and north of a line from Cuthbert to Cordele, if onset of precipitation is early enough before temperatures warm above freezing. At this time, very minimal impacts including a few slick spots on elevated surfaces such as bridges or overpasses would be the extent of any issues. No accumulation is expected.  There may be a brief window for a rain/snow mix as precipitation ends Saturday morning in generally the same areas depending on temperature profile. Again, no accumulation is expected. Confidence on any wintry precipitation actually occurring in our area is very, very low , but is increasing farther northward. Any changes in timing of precipitation, lowering in temperatures due to evaporative cooling effects, or a more southern track of this Gulf low pressure system can result in big changes. For now, it’s all liquid in SWGA. Below normal temperatures extend into next week.
