A rare Extreme Cold Warning is in effect for dangerously low wind chills 5°-10° for SWGA especially in areas of heavier snowpack. Cold Weather Advisory for wind chills as low as 10°-15° elsewhere. A (Hard) Freeze Warning for sub-freezing temperatures as low as 23° in most areas, but down into the teens elsewhere. Frostbite or hypothermia can occur for those without adequate warmth. Officials are urging everyone to BE OFF THE ROADS by mid-afternoon today at the latest. The heavy precipitation rates in combination with very cold temperatures will result in treacherous to impossible travel conditions and slippery or hazardous travel for others.
