CBS 44 Weather Authority Forecast: January 10, 2025
Freezing Rain (Ice) is becoming dominate precipitation type as warm nose of air flows in aloft while surface temperatures hover near the freezing mark along/north of I-85/I-20 including the Atlanta metro. Additional 1/10″-1/4″ of ice accumulation is expected, but up to 1/3″ is possible. Treacherous travel conditions and power outages will develop. Black Ice or refreeze of the earlier precipitation accumulation on roadways. This will create slick or slippery road conditions especially on area bridges and overpasses. Avoid travel if at all possible.
Meanwhile, here in SWGA our temperatures are holding steady remaining above freezing, but our dew points have increased slightly indicating a moistening of the low levels of the atmosphere and when combined with a chilly easterly wind it’s making it feel colder. A chilly rain sets in this evening with perhaps a few sleet pellets mixing in.
Temperatures should remain above freezing preventing any concerns in SWGA. Very Chilly on Saturday in mid-40s. Very cold with another Hard Freeze possible Sunday morning. Chilly with rain chances returning on Monday. Remaining cold with below normal readings and near or subfreezing lows next week. Some moderation in chill by the end of the week.
