Bridging the Gap Educational Services hosts inaugural City on the Move College and Financial Aid Fair

CORDELE, Ga. – Navigating a path to college can be quite overwhelming. But, one non-profit organization is helping students and families make sense of the process.

Bridging the Gap Educational Services hosted its inaugural College and Financial Aid Fair, bringing together local colleges and businesses to support the future of Cordele.

“Some of the services that we offer are homework assistance, tutor assistance, as well as we have a at the school program, college tours, college fairs, youth leadership, as well as our arts program, which is digital art. Where we combine film and art together, so we offer film production as well as other education outreach services,” said Julia Byron, founder, Bridging the Gap Educational Services.

Following its grand opening in December 2024, Bridging the Gap Educational Services has hit the ground running, staying committed to its mission of preparing youth for life beyond the classroom.

“We have multiple colleges here today. So, we have Albany State University (ASU), we have Georgia State University (GSU), we have Clayton State. South Georgia Technical College (SGTC), Fort Valley State University (FVSU), we’re here. We have Crisp County, some of the Crisp County School students, as well as Wilcox County School students. I’m very excited that they’re here to attend our first annual College and Career Fair,” said Byron.

Bridging the Gap Educational Services founder, Julia Byron, shares the inspiration behind providing these essential services to the youth of Cordele.

“Students in rural areas such as areas like this here, they lack resources. Then you don’t know what is out there, what can be offered to you. So, by having these types of fairs, these events, we’re able to ‘bridge that gap’ when it comes to transitioning from high school to higher education,” said Byron.
