Bridging the Gap Educational Services cuts ribbon on new facility in Cordele

CORDELE, Ga. – It’s all smiles for instructors and parents as Bridging the Gap Educational Services (BGES) cuts the ribbon on their new facility.

For Bridging the Gap founder, Julia Byron, after nearly a decade of hard work, opening the building still doesn’t feel real to her.

“It means a lot. It means so much that I want to cry. It means a lot,” said Julia Byron, Founder, Bridging the Gap Educational Services (BGES).

With a proper facility, Julia is bringing more pathways to success for students of all ages in Crisp County.

Whether that’s with computer sciences or an in-progress production program to name a couple.

“I have an opportunity to show our community that there is exposure out there for us. Academic programs out there for us, education outreach program out there for us. So, I’m very elated that there’s a center here,” said Byron.

Cutting the ribbon on the new Bridging the Gap facility isn’t just a dream come true for Julia. For the parents of Crisp County, it means that more opportunities are available for their kids right in their own backyard.

Take local parent, Shakuria Ficklin, and her daughters. She’s enrolled her kids with Bridging the Gap for a while, and she’s excited for what’s coming for her kids.

“I love it. She loves it. She loves Ms. Julia. I love that she gets to have great opportunities coming to her, you know, get to experience new things and everything right here. We don’t have to go far,” said Shakuria Ficklin, Parent.

And, for kids to have a place to further develop is helping set them up for that successful future.

“I love the opportunities that my kids get to experience new things. They get to learn new things. Have somewhere to go to. You know, and it’d be a good place to be,” said Ficklin.

Julia first founded Bridging the Gap in 2016.
