ASU gives “all clear”, lockdown lifted after 17-year-old girl shot near ASU’s East Campus
ALBANY, Ga. – UPDATE: An “all clear” has been given by police and the lockdown at Albany State University (ASU) has been lifted after reports of shots fired near ASU’s East Campus.
A 17-year-old girl has been confirmed shot and is being treated at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
There is a heavy police presence at Wild Pines Apartments located at 600 Sands Drive.
Students and staff previously received a text message alert:
“This is NOT a test. Report of gunshots fired near east campus. Seek shelter. For safety, lock doors and remain inside until an all clear has been issued.”
Albany Police Department (APD) remains on the scene and are awaiting a search warrant.
