Boys & Girls Club members treated to $5,000 shopping spree at Academy Sports + Outdoors

ALBANY, Ga. – A group of local kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Albany got the shopping experience of a lifetime, thanks to a generous donation from Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Before officially opening its new store at 2601 Dawson Road, Academy celebrated by donating $5,000 to the community, giving 20 Boys & Girls Club members the chance to shop the store ahead of the grand opening. Each child received a gift card to pick out new apparel, shoes, sports equipment, and other gear to support their active lifestyles and club activities.

The shopping spree took place on Thursday, October 23 at 6 p.m., marking a special moment of community connection and celebration as Academy opened its doors in Albany.

Organizers say the event not only helped provide essentials for the kids but also encouraged confidence, teamwork, and the importance of staying active.
