Autopsy confirms child’s death intentional, caretaker arrested
ALBANY, Ga. – A tragic incident that initially appeared as an accident has taken a chilling turn nearly a year later.
On February 16th, 2023 the Albany Police Department (APD) was called to 211 Pine Bluff Road, Lot #5, following the death of 1-year-old Melanie Alvisuras.
Initially, it was reported that she was playing with her siblings at a caretaker’s residence when she fell and hit her head, seemingly accidentally.
However, nearly a year later, an extensive autopsy revealed that alvisuras’ death was the result of intentional blunt force trauma to her head and skull.
On April 11th, 2024, after being interviewed by detectives, Heidi Nolasco Garcia, the caretaker, was arrested and charged with Murder.
Garcia has been transported to the Dougherty County Jail.
