Atkinson County Schools closed on Friday due to ongoing Boil Water Advisory in Pearson

PEARSON, Ga. – Atkinson County School System School Schedule Update
Date: Thursday, August 21, 2025

School will be canceled in Atkinson County tomorrow, Friday, August 22, 2025. This is because the City of Pearson remains under a Boil Water Advisory following a negative test result reported this morning (8/21/25) by Tindall Enterprises Inc. Out of an abundance of caution, the Atkinson County School System has implemented the following safety measures in all schools today:

Safety Measures in Schools (Today)

  • Bottled water has been provided for all students and staff.
  • All water fountains are turned off.
  • Hand sanitizer is available in restrooms for safe use.

Water Testing Update

  • New water samples were collected this morning.
  • Results are expected on Friday morning, August 22, 2025.

School Schedule

  • No school on Friday, August 22, 2025. This closure allows time for test results to be received and reviewed to make sure water is safe for our students and staff.
  • We anticipate returning to a regular schedule on Monday, August 25, 2025, pending satisfactory water test results from Tindall Enterprises Inc.

After-School & Athletics

Today (Thursday, Aug. 21):

  • All after-school activities and games are canceled, except the away varsity softball game.

Friday (Aug. 22):

  • All school activities are canceled, except the away varsity football game, which will proceed as planned.
