ALBANY, Ga. – Albany State University (ASU) leadership is closely monitoring weather conditions and is aware of the potential for severe cold and a possible winter storm, including a freeze warning. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to download the LiveSafe app for important safety updates and emergency notifications.

Albany State University leadership is closely monitoring weather conditions and is aware of the potential for severe cold and a possible winter storm, including a freeze warning, expected this weekend.

In preparation of possible inclement weather, faculty and staff are encouraged to take their University-issued laptops home this weekend in the event operations transition to virtual due to weather conditions. Supervisors and leaders are asked to ensure that contact information for their team is available.

  • Prepare in Advance for Severe Weather
    To help prevent frozen or burst pipes, drip faucets 24 hours before inclement weather begins.
  • Fully charge electronic devices, including phones and backup batteries.
  • Plan ahead: get up early, drive slowly, and dress warmly.
  • Continue to monitor the weather.

Additional updates will be communicated through University email, the ASU website, official Albany State University
social media accounts, and the ASU Emergency Communications System (LiveSafe) should conditions change.

The ASU Police Department will remain available to ensure the safe operation of essential functions. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to download the LiveSafe app for important safety updates and emergency notifications.
