Aspire Behavioral Health & Developmental Disability Services cuts ribbon on new clubhouse in Sylvester

SYLVESTER, Ga. – The Worth County community cut the ribbon on a new center geared towards helping the county’s kids.

Community leaders from the City of Sylvester and Worth county are welcoming a new outlet of Aspire Behavioral Health to the area as they cut the ribbon on the Aspire Clubhouse.

Aspire Deputy Director, Lisa Oosterbeen told us about a few things they plan to have on offer for kids.

“…And, they receive academic supports. They receive socialization and life skills development. We feed them a meal while they’re with us, and then we give them opportunities to engage in other social activities like yoga, karate and things that kids need just for their development,” said Lisa Oosterbeen, Deputy Dir., Aspire Behavioral Health.

Sylvester Mayor, Harold Proctor Jr. met with us as well to talk about how Aspire’s new space in Worth county is going to have a positive impact.

“Too many times we have kids that actually need it. They don’t have any place to go. They don’t have the finance to get what they need. These opportunities you got to give will they have a place to go. And, they also offer it to them, even if they don’t have the financial means to pay,” said Mayor Harold Proctor Jr., City of Sylvester.

This is the fourth clubhouse Aspire has opened in Southwest Georgia.

And… they want to be able to lend a hand and help close the gap in care for some kids struggling in school.

“But, a lot of times after school, the kids that we serve don’t have access to academic supports or they may not be able to be engaged in extracurricular activities. Children with mental health challenges get that opportunity when they come here to see us,” said Oosterbeen.

And… with the Aspire clubhouse officially open for registration, Aspire and community leaders are excited about what this new location will do for the children of Worth county.

For more information about registration, you can contact Aspire at 229-430-5100.
