Arrest made in July homicide & search warrant executed
ALBANY, Ga. – On July 3, 2025, Jamarion King was fatally shot near the intersection of Bay Street and W. Highland Avenue. Investigators were able to identify three suspects connected to King’s murder: Markelvin Hicks, Jaquan McIntyre, and Kayveon Lyles. Hicks and McIntyre were previously arrested. Lyles remained at large.
Over the past several weeks, the Albany 911 Communications Center and the Albany Police Department received multiple tips regarding Lyles’ whereabouts. Acting on this information, investigators obtained a search warrant for the 1300 block of Mercantile Drive. On December 1, 2025, officers executed the warrant. Kayveon Lyles (20), along with several other individuals, was taken into custody.
During the search, investigators recovered the following items: Over 100 grams of marijuana, two digital scales, schedule II narcotics, and eight firearms (including one machine gun). Three of the eight firearms were stolen and several rounds of ammunition, magazines, and firearm accessories were also recovered.
The following individuals were interviewed and subsequently charged pursuant to the search warrant: Japlymen Fowler (23), Nykevious Cooke (20), Robert Sapp (19), Shicambrielle Ware (22), Garland Grissom (20), Kiaya Merriweather (24), Diamond Redding (17), Jyquay Jordan (21), Kim Brown (26), Tyvaun Hubert (24), Lameka Johnson (22), Tyree Cooper (26).
Their charges include: Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Possession of a Schedule 2 Drug [Kim Brown], Possession of a Stolen Firearm (3-counts), and Hindering the Apprehension of a Criminal.
Lyles’ charges include: Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Firearm (3-counts), Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of Certain Crimes (2-counts), Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Drug Related Objects, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm (3-counts). More arrests are pending as this investigation continues.
The Albany Police Department emphasizes this successful operation on a joint effort between the community, the APD, the Special Investigations Unit, and the Albany-Dougherty SWAT Team.
