Arrest made in Drayton Apartments homicide in Cordele
Ellis was located and arrested in Sunset Homes by Crisp County deputies at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday.
CORDELE, Ga. – After 4 p.m. Sunday, officers with the Cordele Police Department responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Seven Springs Drive at Drayton Apartments.
Upon arrival, they found one male victim, identified as 27-year-old Travis Trice of Cordele. Officers on scene rendered emergency first aid to the victim, but Trice died of his injuries. The suspect fled on foot prior to law enforcement arrival.
Witnesses on scene, according to Cordele Police, identified the shooter as 20-year-old Patrick Izell Ellis Jr.
Ellis was located and arrested in Sunset Homes by Crisp County deputies at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Ellis had previous outstanding warrants for his arrest.
Trice’s body has been transferred to the state crime lab.
