Andrew College sees highest enrollment in over a decade

CUTHBERT, Ga. – Andrew College marks a significant milestone. Achieving its highest enrollment total in over a decade.

Andrew College’s spring 2024 enrollment has surged to 288, indicating a remarkable 37% increase from the previous spring’s figure of 211 students. This marks the highest enrollment the institution has seen since 2003.

“Well, there’s a lot of excitement on campus about the enrollment numbers. We think it is validation that Andrew College is here for our students. We think it’s just people continuing to notice that over 170 years, we’ve been a student first institution. Most colleges see a significant decrease from fall to spring of anywhere between ten and 20% less students in the spring. So, for us to be only 2% less than we were in the fall. That’s outstanding retention and recruitment from our admissions office,” said Dr. William Kennedy, President, Andrew College.

“We are beginning to add new athletic programs that will go into next fall. We also got six new students in an exchange program from South Korea. Also, we are heavily committed to nursing and respiratory therapy, working to fill that critical need for health care workers in rural southwest Georgia. And, I have to give a shout out to Ms. Heather Bradley and our enrollment team. They have worked hard to adjust policies and procedures to make sure that our students are put in a situation where if they want to give an education, we make it as easy as possible,” said Dr. Kennedy.

Dr. William Kennedy speaks about the unique aspects of the college’s approach that have resonated with prospective students.

“Well, I’ll tell you what I hear from students, and what I also hear from alumni. I heard this Sunday at an alumni event, that the one-on-one attention that our instructors and staff are able to give to our students because we’re small, is something they just don’t get everywhere else. You come to Andrew College, we are going to know what you do. We’re going to know about your successes and we’re going to know if you need a little extra help. Going to know if something’s not quite right. Whether it’s just, you know, a shoulder to cry on, or a friend to talk to and we want to make sure that you’re going to be successful and in your next step in life. And, that’s what Andrew’s been doing for 170 years,” said Dr. Kennedy.
