Americus Visitor Center offers African-American Heritage Trolley Tour during Black History Month
AMERICUS, Ga. – In celebration of Black History Month, the Americus Visitor Center is inviting the community to experience local history in a unique and engaging way with its African-American Heritage Tour on Saturday, February 21.
The hour-long guided tour begins at 10 a.m. aboard the Americus Trolley, departing from the Americus Visitor Center at 101 West Lamar Street in downtown Americus.
During the tour, participants will visit several historic sites connected to the city’s rich African-American heritage. Stops include Eastview Cemetery, the Americus Colored Hospital, historic houses of worship, the Sumter County Courthouse, and other landmarks that played an important role in the community’s history.
The African-American Heritage Tour is part of a series being offered throughout February in recognition of Black History Month, with one remaining tour date on February 28.
Seating is limited, and guests are encouraged to arrive early or reserve a spot in advance. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under.
