Albany Transportation Center celebrates one-year anniversary, to offer free transit rides for passengers

ALBANY, Ga. – The city of Albany celebrates a significant milestone, marking the one-year anniversary of the Albany Transportation Center.

To commemorate this occasion, the city of Albany demonstrates its gratitude to patrons by offering complimentary rides, highlighting its commitment to customer satisfaction and community engagement.

“So, the process to get this new transportation center actually started back in 1998 and then the construction was about 14 months long. So, to give back to the community, what we wanted to do was offer a day of customer appreciation to allow the passengers to ride for free. And, so, we will dedicate this Friday, March 29th, to those passengers. And, so, passengers will be able to come on ride for free for both our fixed route and paratransit services,” said Shawnasi Barron, Transit Superintendent of Operations.

Albany Transit extends a warm welcome to all patrons, whether frequent commuters or occasional travelers, emphasizing its commitment to providing exceptional service.

“Overall, we’re hoping that by offering free rides on Friday, that it will encourage the community and new riders to come out to see what it is we offer. We’re hoping that by them coming out and riding, that they’ll understand that it’s fairly a simple process to commute around Albany,” said Barron.
