Albany Transit System announces job openings for full-time & part-time operators

ALBANY, Ga. – The city of Albany initiates recruitment to enlist new members to the Albany Transit Team.

Albany’s Transit System has recently announced job openings for both full-time & part-time transit system operators.

“The typical day for a transit operator will start around 5:45 in the morning at around 6:15. However, that is subject to change as we fill these vacant positions. In order to become a transit operator. You must have a CDL with a passenger endorsement,” said Shawnasi Barron, Superintendent of Operations, Albany Transportation Department.

Applicants are required to be 18 years of age or older and hold a high school diploma or a GED for consideration.

“You can apply on the city of Albany’s website for transit operators. We also have a community room here that if you don’t have access to a computer or you’re not quite sure how to navigate to the application, you can come here and we can help you apply for that position,” said Barron.

The city also offers a generous bonus incentive for full-time applicants.

“So, we do offer a $1,000 bonus for full time applicants. Once you apply and you know you’re hired on, after six months, you will receive a $1,000 signing bonus,” said Barron.
