Albany Track & Field Olympic legend returns home to host first ever Stanley Floyd Invitational this weekend
ALBANY, Ga. – Olympic legend Stanley Floyd has returned home to Albany.
For the first ever Stanley Floyd Invitational.
Floyd told us why Albany is so important to him, and the impact he plans to have for the future.
“It felt great. Great, great. I am so elated. Surprised. Floored. I can call it. A whole lot of things. This week has been, how would I call it, to me a wildfire, because I’ve been all over the place and I’ve been loving every minute of it. It’s important to me because there are a lot of kids. There need to be involved in something, especially during the summer months. And, quite sure, just like in the past when I was in school and other kids after me were able to seem like the sports, especially track and field, are being minimized. A lot of kids are losing interest. You know, we got all the video games and everything else and, well, that’s a good thing. But as far as an athletic and mental wellness go, you need to be out on a track doing something more challenging and, giving them a better way, better way of health,” said Stanley Floyd, Track & Field, Olympic legend.
If you want to watch the Stanley Floyd Invitational, it starts tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. at Hugh Mills Stadium.
