Albany teen indicted for deadly ASU homecoming shooting
ALBANY, Ga. – Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has announced that a teenager has been indicted in connection to two shooting incidents that occurred during Albany State University’s (ASU) homecoming festivities on Oct. 19, 2024.
According to the indictment, 18-year-old Jeremy L. Marshall has been accused of being involved in both shootings, prosecutors say which stemmed from ongoing rivalry between two hybrid street gangs, the Blockos (also known as the 4 Blickie Gang) and the Purps.
The first shooting occurred near a crowded campus concert, Multiple people were injured including a 16-year-old girl, 17-year-old girl, and a 20-year-old woman suffered from gunshot wounds, while others were injured by fleeing.
The second shooting occurred roughly five minutes later, near Sands Drive, about 600 yards away. 19-year-old De’Marion Tashawn Daniels of Newnan was killed, and a 13-year-old girl was shot in the leg.
This case was investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), ASU Police Department, and the Attorney General’s Gang Prosecution Unit.
On Aug. 20, 2025, a Dougherty County Grand Jury indicted Marshall of multiple charges, including:
- 1 count of Malice Murder
- 2 counts of Felony Murder
- 8 counts of Aggravated Assault
- 12 counts of Violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act
- 5 counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- 1 count of Criminal Damage to Property in the First Degree
