Albany Tech’s wellness fair promotes holistic health

ALBANY, Ga. – Get ready to rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul with Albany Tech, a place of tranquility and vitality.

Albany Technical College hosted their wellness fair Wednesday at the Kirkland Conference Center.

This event consisted of free health screenings, chair yoga, therapeutic massages, and more.

“The idea behind this event was to help students realize that we know they are on a educational journey here, but we want them to be well, both physically and mentally. So, it was just a way to introduce them to the campus resources and some of the community resources that can assist them in reference any of the areas of wellness,” said Lashea Dancer, Director of Student Wellness.

Students has access to a range of informative stations, covering essential topics such as nutrition, counseling, financial literacy, and even dental care.

Lashea Dancer, Director of Student Wellness, delves into the profound impact of students’ mental health and wellness on their academic performance.

“We have seen a lot of students that struggle with balancing home life, their, their studies, and we know that they are hard workers, and we know the stressors that come along with that. We just want them to understand that even though this is an educational journey, we do want you to take care of your mental health and physical health. Because all of those things matter in becoming the most successful student you can be,” said Dancer.

Albany Technical College and community partners are excited to share a wide variety of wellness tips for their students.

“We like to thank everyone that made today’s event possible. All of our community partners. Also, Brookers Furniture was so kind to donate a $300 cash prize for all of our students. We just have a bunch of different community partners that are here that have been so supportive and allowing our students to participate in some of the activities and the things that they brought to us today,” said Dancer.
