Albany Technical College launches Women In Technology (WIT) presence to expand pathways for Women in Tech
ALBANY, Ga. – Albany Technical College (ATC) is expanding opportunities for women pursuing technology careers by launching a campus presence with Women In Technology (WIT), a Georgia-based nonprofit dedicated to supporting girls and women across the tech pipeline, this initiative focuses on helping college students gain the skills and connections needed to thrive in STEM careers. Through WIT Campus, ATC students will have access to mentorship, networking events, professional development workshops, and employer connections that transform classroom learning into career success.
“Bringing WIT to our campus is about turning potential into placement,” said Cassandra Henderson, Chair/Instructor of Computer Programming, Networking & Information Technology Professional at Albany Technical College. “Our students are talented, motivated, and ready to contribute. WIT adds the mentorship, industry access, and confidence-building that help women thrive in software development, networking, cybersecurity, data, and emerging fields. It’s a direct investment in South Georgia’s tech workforce and our students’ futures.”
Women remain underrepresented across many technology roles. WIT’s mission is to empower girls and women to excel by providing education, exposure, experience, and community building a stronger, more diverse talent pipeline for industry. ATC’s partnership aligns WIT’s statewide network and programs with the college’s career-focused training so students can:
- Find mentors and role models across Georgia’s tech ecosystem.
- Build skills and professional presence through workshops, panels, and employer-led events.
- Access internships, job leads, and leadership opportunities via WIT’s corporate partners and community.
- Information Session / Kickoff: December 3, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., CEIT Room 226
Second Information Session: January 28, 2026, at 3:00 pm., CEIT Room 226 - Student-led WIT Campus activities with guest speakers and skills sessions.
- Career Connections: Resume reviews, mock interviews, and networking with WIT partner companies.
- Community Outreach: Collaboration opportunities with WIT Girls to inspire future Titans in tech.
“Albany Tech is focused on preparing job-ready graduates,” Henderson added. “WIT helps our students see themselves not just in their first tech job, but on a long-term career path with the peers and professionals to support them along the way.” albanytech.edu
