Albany Technical College breaks ground on Dr. Anthony O. Parker Transportation Academy
ALBANY, Ga. – It’s ground breaking news as Albany Technical College sets the blueprint for the future, for their Transportation Academy.
Albany Technical College announces the start of construction on the Dr. Anthony O. Parker Transportation Academy.
This new facility is dedicated to further enhancing the college’s diesel technology and auto collision repair programs.
“These programs will help some of the existing programs and existing employers in the area such as the Marine Corps Logistics Base and the Vancey Bros. Also help advance and also attract other new employers to the area. So, we are looking forward to providing the workforce that is needed in the transportation industry,” said Dr. Emmett Griswold, President.
The academy, covering 21,000 gross square feet will house various features including dedicated classrooms, labs, faculty offices, locker rooms and state-of-the-art equipment.
President of Albany Technical College, Dr. Emmett Griswold, talks about the where the concept for the facility originates.
“Every action starts with an idea. So, this idea was thought of four to five years ago by Dr. Anthony Parker. He had a vision of expanding the workforce needs for the diesel and auto collision repair. So, we had an idea about developing a Transportation Academy, so we needed a new facility that was more modern and contemporary to the different equipment and the training for this industry,” said Dr. Griswold.
